History

History at Kenton is an exciting and relevant subject. Pupils are encouraged and guided to analyse events of the past and to empathise with those who lived in that time period. History is not just based in the classroom but also outside.

Junior

Within Topic, the Year 2, 3 and 4 pupils travel through time experiencing many different Ancient Civilizations! They have the chance to explore the lives of the Tudors as well as discover how the Ancient Egyptians and Greeks influenced our way of life today. Be careful, the Year 2’s are finding out about dinosaurs and when they ruled the Earth! I wonder what they might find...

Senior

Senior Pupils at Kenton extend and deepen their History skills through study of a variety of time periods including the Romans, Vikings and the ISEB Common Entrance Medieval Realms topic. Pupils study the past through the investigation of different sources and have the opportunity to make their own archaeological findings. They learn to identify significant events, make connections, draw contrasts, and analyze trends within periods and over long arcs of time. Lessons are interactive, varied and focused on the pupils discovering knowledge for themselves. At Kenton Pupils build the skills needed to enjoy the subject and be good historians, as well as excel at essay writing.
