U 13 Girls win Hockey
U13 Girls are the new Hockey Champions

U13 Girls hockey
We have done it again girls!!! Horray!
This season the 1st Girls Hockey team have played 4 Matches.  They beat Pembroke 4-3,  beat  Banda school  4-2, Peponi , 3-0 and  Braeburn 4-0!  Then it was time to practise for 6 –aside tournament. Everyone worked so hard during lunch time practices and sometimes extending our Div sessions till  4.15 pm.  It was tough getting into the final six because everyone one,  including those who did not was good enough to be on the team.  Superb effort, girls.
Finally the tournament day came and the squad of 8 (Hailey Gitau, Hailey Clegg-Butt, Marina Rozanski, Maryanne Mudavadi, Mueni Owino, Nina Adam, Wambui Waweru and Helen Cussans) set-off to Peponi House for the festival.
In our Pool we had Hillcrest, Braeburn, Brookhouse and St Andrews. We won our first three matches and drew in the last one against Turi. We finished 1st in our pool and faced Pembroke in the semi-finals. We won 2-0 and had to play against our biggest rivals, Turi, YET AGAIN!!! This was a thrilling final that was hotly contested by both teams. Turi scored the opening goal and we hit back within a minute. Scores?? One all! Tension built and then, Turi scored again. We quickly equalised to the excitement of the crowd. Kenton scored again to lead 3- 2 and every Kenton supporter was looking at their stopwatches hoping for a final whistle. Turi were looking for an equaliser and they got it. The excitement blew up! Everyone cheered. Everyone became a sideline coach shouting in all sort of manner.  The girls stayed focused determined. Hunger for the trophy was written all over their faces. With about 30 seconds to go, the scores were still 3 all. Kenton had free pass awarded. This was quickly taken and with ( perhaps) 3 seconds just before final whistle Marina struck the winning goal home.  Finally we had brought home the coveted U13 Hockey Trophy, for the first time in over 10 years!
We have been unbeaten this season and this was a fantastic style to end our season.
Congratulations to Marina Rozanski, Hailey Gitau, Maryanne Mudavadi, Nina Adam and Mueni Owino, who were selected to represent the Nairobi Schools.  The match was very exciting and ended with a 4 – all draw!  Marina who was the Captain of the Nairobi side scored three of these four goals!!!
Well done girls. You have worked hard this term and the team spirit has been great!
On behalf of the team, I would like to thank Miss Mbochi for coaching us this term. Special mention also goes to Ms Wijenje, Mr Hockey and Ms Codrington for all the help and encouragement this season.
Thanks also to all our parents and all those who supported us in our matches.
