Braeburn Football Tournament
This year’s Braeburn Football tournament attracted a total of 8 schools, Banda, Braeburn, Braeside, Braeburn Garden Estate, Brookhouse, Hiilcrest, Peponi, St Andrew’s Turi and Kenton. Both Kenton U13 and U11 Girls went to the tournament determined to do well but most of all, to have fun. It turned out that despite little time to train, the girls football skills were well polished (wonder whether they were actually heading the ball with their eyes closed!!). There were hilarious moments, like when the captain ( I won´t say it, Mueni!) literally picked the ball with her hands to stop it from going off the pitch, and then she suddenly realised Netball season was not yet underway and with the most amazing look on her face, she threw the ball back into play!!!.
The U11 Girls played seven matches. They won a total of five matches and drew two to finish 2nd overall. The U13 played a total of six matches in which they drew two and won four, to finish in second position overall. This was fantastic effort from both teams. Hailey Gitau and Megan Sickmüller were both mentioned during presentations for their exceptional football skills. Well done girls.
