This year the PA team has once more done a fantastic job – raising money for the school, Kigulu Shelter and the Red Cross; while organising events and encouraging parents to meet and socialise.
Our year started with a ‘bang’ – literally, at Bonfire Night. Each of
the year group reps organised parents into helping with the various
stands and the children enjoyed the chance to dress up as space aliens
while throwing coconuts, lucky dipping and having a stylish henna
tattoo done in between! Parents and friends of Kenton supported the
event, not only by attending, but by donating fantastic prizes for the
raffle. As usual, Mrs Aliela’s barbeque supper went down a treat, and
the bonfire and fireworks at nightfall provided a spectacular finale to
the evening!
It only remains to be said, that some of this year’s PA team will now be standing down, so please let the school know if you would be interested in joining in their place.
Many thanks to Mrs Cussans and Mr Hockey for their support.
Thanks too, to all of us, listed below, and to Azza, Hardika and Shreeti in particular!

In November, a number of the PA team visited the Kigulu Shelter in Kibera, with the Year 8s. This was to donate in kind, some of the money raised by the Bonfire Night, which contributed Ksh 250,615.00 to the PA fund. Items bought and donated included medical items, food stuffs and utensils, all carried through Kibera by the Year 8s and some Kenton staff.

Our Lent term activities were dominated by the political unrest in Kenya. In response to the troubles and desperate plight of the internally displaced people in Kenya, it was decided that proceeds from our February cake bake sale should go to the Red Cross.

This last Trinity term saw a new PA initiative in the form of a Kenton College branded baseball cap. These were given out as a present to the Year 8 leavers by the PA team and will be on sale in the school office for Ksh 1,000 each. They are not to replace the white school sports hat, but are for wearing out of school at weekends or on specific school trips. We will be putting in a further order as the caps have been very well received and stocks are now sold out!
